This is the seventh of a series of videos filmed in March 2019, during a trip across the Parque Natural de La Sierra Calderona, in the region of Valencia, visiting examples of best practice in sustainable forestry.

In this episode – Restoring tree growth with sustainable forest management
Once at the experimental plots we can clearly see the difference between an unmanaged forest originated 27 years ago after a wildfire and a stand of managed forest. Just seven years after thinning, the trees show an increased trunk thickness and a stable growth. The managed forest also shows higher efficiency in the use of rainwater, with reduced evapotranspiration and more water available for biomass production and carbon sequestration.
